The earliest license plates in the United States only had numbers, no patterns and propaganda. It wasn't until 1928 that Idaho was the first to put the locally grown potatoes prominently on the state's license plate, and proudly added: "The world-famous potato." The classic among American license plates is the Wyoming license plate. Every other state in the United States has its own uniqueness. Vermont calls itself the "State of the Green Mountains," and its license plate has a bright green base; Maine's license plate highlights its "resort" features with pine branches and birds; and when you see a tall cactus, you know it must be Arizona license plate. Florida is rich in citrus, and the center of Florida's license plate is orange citrus. License plates can also vent their dissatisfaction, and Americans have not forgotten to use license plates to express their dissatisfaction. Washington, D.C. does not have members representing its own district in Congress due to geographical ties, and a slogan is written on its license plate: "Unrepresented Taxpayers."
